For the record, SC are aware there's work that needs to be done in the Standard Editing rules to close a loophole that, in theory, allows some pretty extreme Extended-type editing in Standard Editing.

It's a very difficult area to tackle without restricting hard-won editing freedoms, but we are working on it. Nothing will change until DPL5 is finished. At that point we may do a little dusting, swabbing, and vacuuming of the rules :-)

What kind of things are you thinking of that verge closer to extended editing? Are we talking about AI masking in Lightroom, selective editing, etc...?

Edit to add: I am reading the editing thread opened up recently. Missed it.

If we told you we'd have to .... ;-)

We have usually avoided talking about specific ways that the rules might be circumvented.

However, masking for ordinary purposes is unlikely to be affected.

I'm so confused...
I haven't been here in while and I thought I remembered reading years ago where it stated the types of edits that were allowed in post processing (such as brightness/contrast, curves, etc.) in the different types of editing rules, but although I have read and read all of the editing rules, I am not seeing those.
Can anyone assist me with understanding what is and isn't allowed in standard editing, apart from what is listed - or are we not allowed to make those types of adjustments in standard editing (ie. brightness/contrast)?

We moved away from specifying "tools" and now go with "results" -- in Standard editing you can apply any adjustments you want, either to the whole image or to a selection through a mask.

Pretty much you can do anything except combine multiple images (with exceptions for HDR, focus-stacking, and panoramas) or add text.

Welcome Back!
