How often, if ever, have you put something to the side, to use in some "future" challenge?

My house, and related storage areas, would be SO much tidier without all of my "just in case" stuff!
I have larger items in the storage shed, some of which I've never used, but would be cool if I did - some it stays, "just in case".

In my office area I have bins of 'stuff', some of which I've used semi-recently, other things that haven't seen the light of day since I put them there.

Many of these items I just happened across, although, some were specifically purchased for some challenge setup. I wonder how much $$$ I've spent? Kinda don't want to know!!!

My wife jokes that if I go first, she's going to have the worlds largest yard sale, ever! :-)

How'd I get on this subject anyway? Oh, yeah - I mentioned in a recent challenge that I purchased a prop to use in that challenge, and that I'll probably never use it again. Someone (won't say who) here on DPC, said, hey, send it my way.

Sorry. No can do. I've decided I may use it someday again. Goes in the "just in case" bin. :-D

How about you? Any fun "just in case" stories, or am I the only one?

I've bought lots of things I hope to use in photos, but it rarely happens. That was my excuse when I started collecting toys, but now I just buy them anyway. I need to stop because my house if far too cluttered.

So glad I'm not the only one! I am a bit of a hoarder anyway, but DPC has only made me worse.

As I became more and more obsessed with DPC over the years I found I had to put myself on a budget whereas I was only allowed to spend so much for props! I have a significant collection of stuff that I have accumulated. I wouldn't even dare to estimate how much I have spent on photography including camera's, accessories, photography courses, photography trips etc. etc. I have no regrets.

Nope, nope. Have to draw the line here. Equipment is allowed. As much as you need. Different from props. :-)

I'm actually doing the opposite. I've gone on a huge cleanup binge - and I'm loving it! Every time I throw something out I feel a little bit of weight shift, it's quite cathartic. I highly recommend it.

Afterall its just stuff!

You have to set your mind to do it, and then you will do it. But if you waver then you will change your mind.

Since my entries are mostly last minute whatever I have in the camera or what I can quickly snap before the deadline images I can say I'm blessed I've been spared of this syndrome.

I don't believe I have ever spent a nickel on anything to shoot for a challenge.

Equipment is an entirely different story....

Not even "Googly Eyes"? :-)

I've used them a few times (haven't always done so well with them, but fun nonetheless).
,

... and then stuff like kids toys, that I have no other reason to keep except for props.
,

There's plenty of other stuff. Funny glasses, crayons, chalk, mini-christmas lights, etc...

You made me look... after scrolling through my entries, I can confirm that, likewise, I have never spent a nickel on something to use as a challenge prop or subject. But yes, equipment is quite a different story!

I still have the pieces of a broken bowl I kept . . . just in case. Used it once, for "The End II", and titled, appropriately, "Broken".

Thought about throwing the pieces away after the challenge, but decided against it.

Haha!
I remembered the trouble I had finding this balloon, so I went through my Portfolio to show it to you.

Turns out, I've bought balloons several times for DPC images.

I'm not ashamed. :)

You already had SPAM on hand for the spam challenge?!

I remember the first time I bought something specifically for a challenge, it was a mirror, my husband said - what! you spent $10 on one challenge !? So I used it twice:
.

After that I only bought food for challenges that we ate later except for this duck:

I think he may have missed how much money I spent on the equipment! ;)

Oh, no! I can't find my black rubber ducky. I can find three yellow ones but now I have to turn everything upside down too.
Oh, wait. Everything is upside down. Guess I'll have to turn it right side up.
