Wow, first ribbon of 2015... Thanx for all the lovely scores. This was taken about an hour before sunset on the last day before the deluge being pushed up by Hurricane Joaquin hit us, so it was humid-but-cold. The birds are cormorants. The BG is Monomy National Wildlife Refuge on Cape Cod.

Excellent work and result. To my untrained eye, there is a clarity and "realism" in the mist. And the combination of the two, is something nice to ponder.

I missed voting or might have kicked this to double blue. Beautiful and full of tension or maybe its just the story reminding us of pre-hurricane anxiety. The birds seem to be floating on a mild swell and the boat in a trough anticipating the storm swells from the hurricane.

One of the few nice pictures in this challenge where the softness seems to be present without a lot of manipulation (although I feel that you would have pressed it differently in other circumstances) 8
