 this is 5 photos manually focus stacked ..

they say pride comes before a fall .. so i'm a bit hesitant to say that i'm quite proud of this image ..;)...
because of the difficulty in getting the shots .. putting them together and how it turned out ...

its unfortunate that it lost a lot of its sharpness and clarity when resized down to 1200pxls ..

thanks so much Wendy.. :)

my camera does have focus stacking but the micro movements I make when taking the photos mean that any focus stacking in camera or program on the computer won't work ..
it's usually a very dynamic environment with wind etc ..

so yes I take many photos individually.. focusing on different parts of the insect's body and surrounding area if relevant ..

there's no way I could use a tripod or monopod .. just setting them up would scare off these insects ..

if im squatting down i can brace myself against my leg to lessen any movement ..

also I have issues with my hands so mucking around with a tripod I could injure myself ..

there are ppl who use tripods very successfully for insect macros .. it's just not an option for me ..

The composition is awesome on this, with the grass bending down just at the right place. I also think the B&W works extremely well on this image

Roz, of course - no one does these like you. I absolutely love the black and white. It glistens and shimmers and is positively glamorous. The roberfly would be so proud. My top score. 10.

A lot of layers as armor and needles and fuzzy hair - certainly admirable in a photo (less in real life, said I scratching my arms) will it pop the tears or drink the water. Admirable photo, like always
